Anyplace Control 3.0 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

How it works and what you need to do:

You need to have at least 2 computers connected through the network or with access to the Internet and install our program on both. The software consists of two modules:

Admin Module (often called viewer or client) displays screens of the remote computers (in the separate windows) and allows you to control them with a mouse and a keyboard. This module must be installed on the local PC (the Admin machine), which will be used to control the remote computers.

Host Module (often called server) executes the commands sent by Admin Module. This module is installed on each computer you want to access remotely (as a rule, each computer in the network).

The installation package contains both modules. You can select a required module during the installation. You can install both modules on the same computer if you want.

How to control the remote PC
  1. Start the Admin Module on your PC (via desktop shortcut or Windows menu
  2. Start/Programs/Anyplace Control).
  3. Add the IP address (or network name) of the remote PC to the address book.
  4. Connect to remote PC using "Connect" button.
  5. Press "Full Control" button, and control the remote screen by your mouse and keyboard in the appearing window. That is all.

Frequently Asked Questions - Anyplace Control

  1. How can I send Ctrl+Alt+Del combination to the remote PC?
You can send Ctrl+Alt+Del combination to the remote computer in "Control Mode" only. Also the Host Module must run as a system service on that remote PC. Press Ctrl+Alt+F12 or call the system menu of the Remote Screen Window and choose menu item "Send Keystroke > Ctrl-Alt-Del".

  2. How can I speed up the program's performance?
In case of a poor performance of Anyplace Control while viewing of the remote screen, it is recommended (in order from most effective remedy to less effective):

    On the Host site:
    • Use better video adapter (with more video memory) and latest video drivers.
    • Reduce color depth and screen resolution.
    • Remove wall-paper from the desktop.
    • Use "Security Level 1" option in the Host Configurator settings (note: this is not recommend when the high security of network connections is required).
    On the Admin Module:
    • Use "auto" color depth in Remote Screen Window for LAN connections and "8 bit per pixel" for slow internet connections. Use the system menu (Ctrl+F12) to change Color palette.
Also we recommend to use 100 Mb and more network adapters to improve network performance.

  3. How to determine the IP address of Host computer?
Every computer connected to the Internet or network is assigned a unique number known as an IP address. Usually computer has one IP address, but sometimes it can have more then one.

There are many ways to know IP address of Host PC, we recommend the following:
    • Move your mouse pointer over the Host Module tray icon (near the computer clock). The tool tip will show the list of IP addresses (separated by commas). For example 192.168.0.1 , 82.169.4.11
Use one of the IP addresses listed to connect to Host PC (add it to the Admin address book).
