Steps to analyze a file

First select the source file with the "Browse..." for the source file, then select or name the destination file that must be a midi file with ".mid" extension, if you select an exesting file it will be completely overwritten.

At this point you could push the Start button and the process would start to analyze the file and generate the final midi file but first you can modify the options for the analysis.

To set the options for the analysis more easily you can push the "Load options" button and select the preset of options you want, then if you want and know what you are doing you can customize the options to get better performance, or modify the options and repeat the analysis several times to get a better result.

If you want to record from the microphone or audio input you must select the checkbox "Record from wave input" and if you want a metronome to be sincronized with the midi file you must select the checkbox "Play metronome" at the bottom.

Recording from microphone or plugged instrument

To record from microphone or plugged instrument you must connect the microphone or instrument to the audio input in your soundcard and then open the Audio mixer and select the audio or microphone input to record from.After doing what is explained in the previous section and when you push "Start" WaveToMidi will start recording and analyzing simultanously and when you push "Stop" the first time it will stop recording but continue analyzing till the end of the recorded data, if you press "Stop" a second time it will stop analyzing the data and save the result to the midi file.
