XD Mastering Studio consists of various panels

  • Open SMF, Save SMF and Midifile Info: these buttons let you open, save and get information about a standard GM/GS midifile.
  • the main Mixer: a virtual mixing console, which lets you edit volume, pan, reverb send and chorus send. The graphical display at the top displays pan/volume/reverb/chorus or note-on velocity for each MIDI part. On the right part, you can edit your keyboard's main settings: bass boost and global volume/chorus/reverb.
  • the Drum Mixer: taking advantage of the Ketron XD/VEGA architecture, which features mixing subgroups for drums, this editor lets you easily modify volume, pan, reverb send and chorus send for each drum subgroup.
  • the GM Parts editor: the core panel of the Mastering Studio. It modifies sound properties of a single part, such as:
    • part type (Voice, Drum Set, Drum 2 or Vocalizer)
    • program change
    • bank select
    • TVA (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release)
    • TVF (Cutoff & Resonance)
    • LFO (Delay, Vibrato Rate and Depth)
    • Wha
    • Effects send (including rotor and distortion)
    • Velocity offset/compression/expansion
    • Velocity response and other special parameters.
  • Vocalizer: if your keyboard has the optional Vocalizer expansion installed (i.e. an intelligent realtime pitch shifter, designed to create a backing vocals effect), here you can edit Vocalizer's Mode, Part Assignment, Volume, Limiter On/Off, Lead Mode On/Off, Effects, Vibrato and Equalizer.
  • Effects: take control of your keyboard internal DSP! Any GM/GS midifile will play much better if effects are applied correctly. This is the right tool to do that.
  • Keyboard: useful for playing and monitoring.
  • Transport Bar: since the Mastering Studio is a midifile mastering tool, you can edit sounds while the file is playing. The transport bar lets you perform common tasks, such as play, pause, rewind, forward, record (yes, you can also record fader and object movements), loop, go to and reset devices. It features also a "Out" led which monitors MIDI out activity.
