Key Control 6.06.06 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

CSV DATABASE (comma separated value): After selecting CSV, a window will appear reminding you that no other computers or users may be logged onto the program once you begin to import your file(s).

1) Select the file you wish to import by clicking on the small box to the right of the Comma-separated file to import field.

2) If the CSV file you wish to import has been formatted using double quotation marks as shown in the window, do not remove the check mark from the box. That is the default setting. Click to remove the green check if your files have not been formatted using double quotation marks.

3) Date Format allows you to select the format you wish your Key Control database to display.

4) Skip first record recognizes that the first record in a CSV file may contain only field identifiers - first name, last name, etc. In that case, they do not need to to imported.

To have the import ignore the first record, click on the box to bring up the green check, otherwise leave the default setting which will allow the record to be imported.

5) In most cases, you will want all of your records imported. The default setting for this field is "0." That means all records will be imported. If you wish to limit the number of records, simply adjust the number in that field.

6) End of record lets the import process know whether or not a carriage return indicates the end of all records. Otherwise, the carriage return will be interpreted as the end of all records and the import will stop at that point.

7) If the CSV file you are importing has comma separated files, you will need to leave the Field Separator box as the default setting. The comma tells the import process where a field ends, since that is where the comma will be located.
