You can also install the agent using Bluetooth connection. The procedure is as standard as for infrared connection. As far as some phones (Nokia N-Gage, N-Gage QD, 7610, 6670, Motorola A1000 and some others) don't have IR port you can install the agent only via Bluetooth. Some phones can support application installation via cable connection; this connection can be used for installation as well.

As far as OPMAgent_Series60.sis, OPMAgent_Series80.sis, OPMAgent_Series90.sis and OPMAgent_UIQ.sis are regular Symbian applications you can also install them using tools and methods offered by your phone manufacturers.

Important note: You have to install version 2.90 of the agent in order to be able to work with the latest version of OPM II. Earlier versions may work with errors fixed in the latest software or not work at all.

Working via IR
You need to tune PC side in order to be able to connect the software to the phone. We use IrDA sockets communication layer. This technology is reliable and easy to tune in common. You are able to run the software under Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.

Working via Bluetooth

You can also work using Bluetooth connection. Data exchange is performed using "Bluetooth Serial Port" service. The program supports Bluetooth connection with devices controlled by Widcomm, AVM, Extended Systems, Mobile Action or Blue Soleil drivers. If you work under Windows XP Service Pack 2 you can also use Microsoft Bluetooth drivers to connect to the phone. You need to check the program option corresponding to the drivers you are using. The program will find needed virtual port automatically. Device pairing is conducted as usual.

Working via USB

USB connection is provided only for Nokia phones supporting DKU-2 cable and Samsung phones SGH-D720, SGH-D728, SGH-D730. For Nokia cable you have to install the latest DKU-2 drivers available from Nokia site (http://www.nokia.com) before using the program. For Samsung cable you need to install the latest drivers for DataLink cable available from Samsung site (http://www.samsung.com). Usually your phone bundle has a CD with appropriate cable driver.

Frequently Asked Questions - Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian phones

  1. I received the keycode, but the program doesn't accept it! What can I do?
    First, be sure you are entering the keycode without any spaces or empty lines and to the correct program version. If that won't help, please do the following: carefully copy/paste that keycode to Notepad, name it opm.key and save to the OPMS folder.

  2. I am able to read the data from my phone, but cannot write anything back. What should I do?
    You probably haven't yet registered your phone to the program. You can find the needed instructions in the very letter, was sent you with the keycode and the links.

  3. All the phones in "My phones" tree are called as "Unknown". Why?
    This is the default alias for every connected phone. In order to discriminate between the several phones of the same model you can give a short description to each phone. To do that, go to the phone information window and enter the new alias.

  4. I cannot connect my phone using Bluetooth device to this software though I am using the OPMAgent.sis to connect the phone. Nokia PC Suite sees the phone and works with it. What should I do to make your program work with my phone?
    Please, check the following:
    • the COM port's number, you choose in the Tools - Options - Connection&Common, is the one from 'Bluetooth configuration' -> 'Client applications' -> 'Bluetooth serial port' -> 'Properties' option. Please, don't set 'Bluetooth serial port' service from 'Local services' bookmark - this won't function;
    • after you have set correct COM port's number, please, make sure, that you are not running any standard Bluetooth services, the phone should be disconnected;
    • then run OPMAgent.SIS and choose 'Start BT exchange'. Please, do not start Bluetooth exchange, using phone's standard Bluetooth services. You should start Bluetooth connection only from OPMAgent.SIS utility. Phone's standard Bluetooth service may block the whole connection;
    • before running our program, please, make sure, that you have turned off Bluetooth connection in Mrouter utility of Nokia PC Suite. Nokia PC Suite may block the whole Bluetooth connection also.
