Repton 1 - User Guide and FAQ

New Review of Repton 1 by Interzone (Extracts)

1.) Rating: 5 stars out of 5.

2.) You play the title hero, a small green reptilian, whose only mission in life is to collect all the jewels in the game's many levels. To do this Repton must solve cunning puzzles, avoid or kill monsters, spring cunning traps without falling foul of them and all before the timer runs out. Simple stuff? Well it would be if it wasn't for the brilliant ingenuity of the level designers - these puzzles really are top notch, some of them taking a great deal of thought and logic to solve them.

3.) If the 16 starter levels aren't challenging enough for you, there are also 16 Cascade levels, representing perhaps the toughest Repton challenge there is - and when I say they're tough, I'm not fooling! Younger players are also catered for with a specially created Young Repton mode for gamers aged 3-6, featuring 10 levels, and a Junior Repton mode for gamers aged 7-9 featuring another 10 levels. Even when you've completed all of these, Repton has a strong replay factor - can you find a better way to complete a level, and thus beat your previous high-score? And if you're still thirsty for more there's also a level editor, allowing you to create and share your own Repton creations amongst friends and family.

4.) Repton is truly one of the greatest puzzle games of all time, and I'm extremely pleased to see it making a come back. If you're a fan of logic puzzles, or just fancy a break from aimlessly wandering around shooting at things, buy yourself a copy of this - it's addictive, charming and challenging - you won't be disappointed!
