Dumbow & Cool Demo 1.3 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

Storyline

Dumbow and Cool were having a great time in Happy Valley playing tag when all of the sudden a bunch of helicopters landed. From the helicopters came a load of evil orange guy's called Studes. Capturing everybody in Happy Valley except Dumbow & Cool, they then flew away; anybody they couldn't fit into the helicopter was left behind, trapped in a metal cage that can only be opened from the outside. It's up to Dumbow & Cool to release any friends they find and find out where the helicopters took the rest of them. To succeed, they'll have to work together, and they'd better get going fast!

How to play

There are two playable characters in the game, Dumbow and Cool. Dumbow can swim, Cool can rollerskate, but cannot swim. To advance you're going to have to learn how to use these characters' abilities where appropriate, and make them work together when needed. In "Single player", you play as either Dumbow or Cool and switch between them when needed at the touch of a button. In "Split screen", you and a pal / relative take control of a character each: controlling them simultaneously! Dumbow and Cool may also be needed in the same area to reach a high up object: they can bounce on each other's heads.

Both Dumbow & Cool can have their abilities toggled on or off. When off, they will control identically. When Dumbow has her swim gear on, she will swim when in contact with water. With it off, she will drown. Cool will move faster and jump further with his roller skates on. He cannot swim under any circumstances however, and so should always avoid water.

Dumbow should be used to get to areas surrounded by water, and Cool to get to areas separated by large gaps. If you see chevrons painted on the ground, this is a sign that Cool should follow them. As mentioned before, Dumbow and Cool may both be required at an area to bounce on each other's heads to get to high up items. Another example of the team work that will be needed is activator platforms: sometimes a button will need to be stood on by one character to open up a path for the other and so on. Finding out what you need to do is half the fun of the game, so I won't spoil it here.

Aim

In "Story mode", the aim is to collect all the cages / slaves and all coins in a level to advance to the next. To collect a cage, slave or coin, simply touch it as either Dumbow & Cool. In "Time attack" the aim is to collect all coins in a level within the allocated time limit.

You can press F1 at any point during game play to display the entire control scheme. In menus, UP and DOWN typically scroll through options, and RETURN selects the currently highlighted option. There is a tutorial on the first level of the game! Watch out for it! Controls are detailed below
