Attacking

When a piece moves into the square of an opponent piece the move is called an attack. In an attack the ranks of both pieces are revealed. The piece with the highest rank will remain in the square while the other piece is removed from the board. In case of equal ranks both pieces are removed. Therefore, a marshal defeats a general and all lower ranks, a general defeats a colonel and all lower ranks, and so on down to the spy. The spy is the lowest rank and will always be defeated if attacked. A spy however is the only piece that can defeat the marshal but only if he strikes first. If the marshal strikes first the spy is removed. All other pieces remove a spy regardless of who strikes first.

Any piece that strikes a bomb is removed from the board except for the miner. Miners are the only pieces that can remove a bomb. Bombs cannot strike or move themselves.

When a piece strikes the opponent flag the game ends and the player who made the strike wins the game. If a player cannot move his pieces he has lost the game.
