How to Import Source Images

The simplest way to import your Start and End source images is to click the Import Image button or choose the File/Import Start Image or File/Import End Image menu, then choose an image file from the Open Image Dialog shown below.

You may also drag an image file to the main interface from an external program such as Windows Explorer as illustrated below.

How to prepare Source Images for Morphing

We often don't wish to morph an entire image. Particularly with digital camera images, you will find that you only wish to work with a portion of the image. At other times you will need to edit or adjust your source images in other ways.

MorphBuster has a wide range of built-in editing tools which you can apply to your source images.

You need to open the MorphBuster edit panel to edit or make adjustments.

To edit the start image, press F3, click the Edit Start Image button on the start image toolbar , or choose the View/Start Image Edit menu.

To edit the end image, press F4, click the Edit End Image button on the end image toolbar, or choose the View/End Image Edit menu.

How to set Animation Options

Once you have created an animation by applying key dot pairs, you can play the animation in the preview panel. The illustration below shows the different MorphBuster controls which you can use to control how your animation is played.

  1. First, choose the Size menu to confirm the animation size.
The default value is the same size as the Start Image, but you can choose any fixed value from the popup menu.

  2. Alternatively, you may set it to any desired value using Change Custom Size. In the subsequent dialog as shown below, enter the required width and height of the movie. If the Constrain Proportions box is checked and you enter a new value for one dimension, the other dimension will be calculated automatically to keep the same proportion.

  3. The default frame count value is 25, but you can change it in the No. of Frames list box. If you want a smoother, more detailed morph result, simply add more frames. Click the No. of Frames list box and select among the listed numbers. The maximum frame count value is 500.

  4. In the Start delay list box you can set the number of frames you want the Start image to be shown for before the morph starts.

  5. In the End delay list box you can set the number of frames you want the End image to be shown for before the morph stops.

  6. In the Frames/Sec list box you set the speed of the animation. The selectable range is from 5 to 30 frames per second. The default is 15 frames per second.

  7. To control the Preview, you have buttons to start/pause the animation, step one frame forwards and step one frame backwards.

  8. An important control is the Preview Slider Bar. Each morph frame from the first to the last can be previewed easily by simply dragging the Preview Slider. For example, if you position the slider at the center, you will preview the frame representing the middle of the morph. If you position the slider all the way to the right, you will preview the final frame of the morph, which is essentially the End image.

  9. You can also zoom in on the animation Preview by using the zoom buttons. Using this, any part of the animation can be studied in detail.

  10. There are two useful buttons which control play, the Auto Loop button and the Auto Reverse button. Turn on the Auto Loop button, and the morph will play repeatedly until you unpress the Play button. Turn on the Auto Reverse switch to make the morph cycle from start to end, then reverse from end to start.

  11. Finally you have one button which controls display of the overlay.

Frequently Asked Questions - MorphBuster

  1. How can I best get started with MorphBuster?
Please run through the tutorial, visit our help section, and play around with the different sample morphs that come included with MorphBuster. After trying those options, if you are still unable to resolve your issue, please contact Support and we will do our best to assist you in making your experience with MorphBuster a great one.
Be sure to let us know how we can improve MorphBuster even further for you, too.

  2. Can I produce morphs from more than two images?
Yes, you can use what MorphBuster calls sequences. When you have created a morph from the first two images, simply select Sequences/Add New. The end image of your first sequence is automatic loaded as the start image in the second sequence. You then load a new end image and create a new morph. In this way you can continue to create as many sequences as you like. Note also that you can view all sequences played in the preview by selecting the Animation/Play All Sequences menu.

  3. Why is the speed slower than "real-time"?
MorphBuster uses a highly optimized rendering engine which makes it possible to render most animation in real time. However, if you have a slow PC, the morph may become too complicated, the resolution too high or the required speed too fast, and the rendering may not be able to keep up.

  4. What image formats can I import into MorphBuster?
MorphBuster imports BMP, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, TGA and GIF format images.

  5. Can I add dots to both pictures simultaneously or just to one picture at a time?
Every dot you add to one picture will automatically create a corresponding partner dot on the opposite picture. Dots only come in pairs, because the purpose of a dot is to match up key features in each picture to tell MorphBuster how the first picture will morph into the second picture.

  6. Why are my dots all the same color?
As a default, all dots are the same color. But you can turn on the "Use different dot colors" switch in the preference dialog and 8 basic colors will then cycle across the dots. Note that the 9th dot you add will therefore be the same color as the 1st, the 10th the same as the 2nd, and so on. To help distinguish individual dots and correctly locate their partner dots, simply move your cursor over a chosen dot. That dot and its partner in the second image will be highlighted.

  7. What do I do with my completed morphs?
Use your morph images or morph movies to grab people's attention or to have a good time - create web graphics and enhance your web site, email morphs to friends and family to make them laugh, burn morphs to VCD for enjoying on TV, create a unique online greeting, post your morphs on the Internet, add more life to your presentations. If you are a professional user, use your morphs in music videos, advertisements, movies, education courseware, and countless other great ways!
If your morph is unique and exciting, and you want to share it with other MorphBuster users, you might consider submitting it to us for display.

  8. Can I import my morph results into video editing software to make a VCD/DVD?
    Of course you can.
