Frequently Asked Questions - ImageConverter Plus

  1. What is batch image conversion?
    ImageConverter Plus is a professional image converter. ImageConverter Plus can be used in the same way to convert one single file as well as hundreds of files and folders.

    When you choose a group of files or a folder with photos, all images are added to the conversion list. Conversion of any quantity of pictures with one action is called batch conversion of photos (images).

    Batch conversion is a most useful feature of the program. The chosen script will be applied to every photo from the list until all images are processed.

  2. How many files can I convert?
    ImageConverter Plus is designed to convert files. There are no artificial limits to number or type of processed files.

    The program can convert as many files as your hard disk drive can contain. Our customers have informed us of successful conversion of lots and lots of files.

    An Italian company reported 10 000 successfully converted files. The time of continuous conversion was more than 40 hours.

    Good news, isn't it :)

  3. Can I convert a multipage TIFF file into a multipage JPEG file?
    As you know, JPEG format does not support multipage property. Thus, you cannot convert a multipage TIFF file into one JPEG file.

    Still, you can convert every page of a TIFF file into a separate JPEG file.

    If you want to convert files only to use a better JPEG compression, convert your multipage TIFF file into another multipage TIFF file with JPEG compression. It's optimal for multipage files containing photo images.

  4. Are there any special system requirements?
    Minimum system requirements are imposed by complexity of the program and modern techniques of digital photography. Huge images as well as their procession techniques make us use modern computers.

    The program will operate with Pentium 100 processors. However, minimum requirements are Pentium III with 128Mb RAM.

  5. How to get a needed image size?
    To get a fixed image size, do the following:
    Launch ImageConverter Plus;
    Add Resize operation;
    In "Change image size ... x ....." boxes, specify the needed image width and height;
    Set "units" option to pixels;
    Adjust other parameters.

    If you want your images to always be of the same size, set "keep proportions" option to Yes. In this case the image will become wider or more narrow until it meets the conditions.

  6. I cannot find converted files?
    If conversion was successful, you'll most likely find your files in destination folder. Perform a more thorough search.
    Still, this situation is possible. Conversion may fail due to several reasons.

    Main reasons are:

    1. You tried to write your file to a Read only destination, e.g., CD ROM. ImageConverter Plus cannot do this. To place your files on CD-R or CD-RW use the standard program shipped together with Windows XP or some other program. Prepare your files beforehand with ImageConverter Plus.

    2. You've run out of free space on your device. E.g. your flash card didn't have enough space for all converted files. In this case use a better file compression or a flash card of larger capacity.
    In both cases ImageConverter Plus will inform you about conversion failure.

    If you set ImageConverter Plus to ask no questions when converting files, there may be a situation when none of your files are converted. In this case you're looking for files which do not exist. Be careful with ImageConverter Plus automatic modes. While these modes are very convenient, you should use them if you have some conversion experience.

  7. How to rename file extensions in ICP?
    Solve this problem by using file template.
    Say, you convert files to JPEG format. Standard file name template is:

    {Name}.{Type}

    If you use this template your files will be named my_photo_name.jpg

    If you want your files to be named my_photo_name.jpeg, use the following template:

    {Name}.jpeg

    This will solve your problem.
