RasterStitch 1.00 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

Loading images for stitching

To stitch a couple of images, they are to be loaded in the corresponding frames of the stitch window (see user interface). To load image to one of the frames, use the File|Open 1 ... or items on the menu When it is necessary, you may change the position of the frames in the stitch window using the View|Split Vertical, View|Split Horizontal or View|Swapcommands

RasterStitch is a multiple document interface (MDI) application, i.e. you can open a number of stitch windows at the same time. This can be accomplished by the File|New command. To switch between the stitch windows, use the Window item on the menu or the Ctrl+Tab keyboard shortcut.

Stitching images

To stitch two images together, you will need to set two pairs of the common (reference) points. To set reference points, select identical areas on the first and the second images. The reference points are to be set in the places that are easily traceable and identifiable on each of the two images. It is a common practice to select intersections or sharp bends (angles) of lines.

To set the reference points, select the number of the point to be set with the Stitch|+1 or Stitch|+2 command and then double-click on the area of the image where the point is to be set. When both reference points are set on the image, they will be connected with a segment (the red line on the image). That line marks the segment where the two fragments are to be stitched. Read more on stitching images in Application Example.

Once the reference points are set for both images, click Stitch|GO! When the stitching is complete, the new window will appear, and the result will be placed in the left (top) frame. The stitched image can be saved or stitched with another image, which is to be placed in the next frame. If you need to stitch two images that are in the different stitch windows, just move one of the images using the Edit|Copy and Edit|Paste commands to the appropriate window.
