Software Description:
Prism RD (rotor dynamics) dynamic analysis of rotors and shaft trains. Rotors can be statically or harmonically excited via loads or support points. Stepped and tapered shaft profiles are easily defined View animated solutions of stresses, deflections and more. Solutions include deflections, reactions, stresses, frequency response, station orbits and more. Models can include unbalanced disks and linearized journal bearings. Torques can be applied anywhere on a rotor – a new station will automatically be generated.

Key Features:
  • Linear finite element analysis (FEA) of shafts using line (Euler Beam) elements.
  • Stepped shaft objects. Shafts can be assigned a rotation speed. Coupled shaft trains.
  • Static and harmonic (stead-state) dynamic analysis: element masses modeled as continuous, distributed masses rather than lumped masses. Steady-state vibration analysis.
  • Rotating disk objects: can be assigned perimeter force loads, mass, radius of gyration and eccentric mass.
  • Dampers and linearized journal bearings
  • Rigid, pinned and sliding connections.
  • Thermal expansion (static delta T)
  • Unlimited number of nodes & elements
  • 3D CAD interface with shafts represented graphically as 3D solids (wireframes or shaded)
  • Minimum 6 DOF per node
  • Automatic node assignments. Nodes will be displayed automatically
