How to Insert Emoticons into Emails

You can use Handy Animated Emoticons to insert emoticons to Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Incredimail and other popular email applications.

It's very simple to insert emoticons into your emails: just open your email and click on selected emoticon with left mouse button.

If you are using any email program you cannot insert emoticons into just email us its name and version, and we will do everything to let you insert emoticons into this program.

How to Insert Emoticons into Message Boards

Emoticons are inserted into message boards as special strings containing emoticons address:

Since there are several types of message boards, Handy Animated Emoticons supports three message board emoticon formats:

You can specify format by selecting appropriate message board type in the Board menu or by clicking on appropriate Message Board Type in status bar.

It you don't know which format to use you should contact message board's support team. If your message board requires format which Handy Animated Emoticons doesn't support, please email us and we will add this format to Handy Animated Emoticons.

How to Insert Emoticons into Messengers

All messengers we have do not allow inserting exterior emoticons so Handy Animated Emoticons doesn't work with them. If you are using any messenger which allows inserting exterior emoticons (for example, using its Paste menu) please email us its name and version and we will add improve Handy Animated Emoticons so it will let you insert Handy Animated Emoticons' emoticons into them.

How to Add Emoticons

You can add emoticons into Handy Animated Emoticons by several ways.

To pick emoticons from any web page just drag emoticon and drop on emoticons pad.

If you have emoticons as gif files on your computer, you can add them easily just by copying emoticon files.

Select "Tools | Explore Smiley Folders" menu, the Windows Explorer window will be opened. Copy emoticon GIF files into appropriate emoticon folder.

Frequently Asked Questions - Handy Animated Emoticons

  1. How I can install Handy Animated Emoticons?
    a. Download Handy Animated Emoticons.
    b. Run downloaded Handy Animated Emoticons setup program.

    The Setup program will issue a number of prompts. Unless you have a reason to override the defaults it is strongly recommended that you accept the installation default settings (just press OK, Yes, or Next, as appropriate).


  2. Does Handy Animated Emoticons work for web mail?
    Yes. Supported web email services are Hotmail and Yahoo mail. You can test other web email services by yourself just by trying to insert emoticons.

    Note: Hotmail email composer has two modes: simple and Rich Edit. Pictures are available in Rich Edit mode only. Handy Animated Emoticons detects mode and if current mode is simple asks whether to switch to Rich Edit.


  3. I would like to know if the animated emoticons works with yahoo mail.
    Handy Animated Emoticons works with Yahoo! web mail.

  4. Imported smileys work in my e-mails and not on my board which is IMG type. What is wrong?
    Smileys should be imported via "Tools / Import Smileys from Web Page..." menu in order to be used on message boards.

  5. Will Handy Animated Emoticons run on a Macintosh?
    Handy Animated Emoticons requires Microsoft Windows to run.

  6. I imported my own emoticons, and sometimes at startup I'll have some of them not displayed (red X instead), and then re-appearing when I startup again, sometimes other ones not working properly while they were on previous startup... How can I fix this?
    You copied too many emoticons into one folder; split emoticons into several folders (50 emoticons per folder is fine).
