  1. What is Batch File Utility?
    Batch File Utility is a folder and file renaming utility, that supports wildcards and regular expressions with a variety of renaming features, including options to change case, replace characters, replace strings, set file attributes, rename mp3 files based on their ID3 tag information and more. In addition, the program can also move or copy files and optionally (batch)compress them. Batch File Utility provides a preview of the changed names as well as an Undo option that allows you to revert the name changes if needed.

  2. How do I change the extension of multiple files? E.g (*.doc to *.wri)
    • Run Batch File Utility
    • Browse to the "folder" your files are in
    • Select the files in the "file list" you wish to change the extensions for
    • Add the selected files in the "file list"to Renaming list
    • Click Rename button in the toolbar to open the Batch File Renaming Windows
    • In General rename tab,tick the "Extension" checkbox and input a new extension(eg: wri)
    • Click the "Preview" button to preview file name for current format setting.
    • Click "Apply" button to rename all files in previews filelist.


  3. How do I create a Series of files with all new filenames? E.g. (Photo.jpg, Photo.jpg, Photo003...)
    • Run Batch File Utility
    • Browse to the "folder" your files are in
    • Select the files you wish to make into a series
    • Add the selected files in the "file list"to Renaming list
    • Click Rename button in the toolbar to open the Batch File Renaming Windows
    • Click the "Enumeration" tab
    • In the "Apply to" drop-down box, select the option to create a series to FileName or Extension.
    • In the "Start counting at" drop-down box, Select the option to rename files sequentially by numbers (001,002...) or letter (a,b..).
    • Set the Incremental steps: (eg: 001) Prefix string (photo) and suffix string (Space) in formatter.
    • In the "extension" list, input a new extension(e.g: jpg)
    • Click the "Preview" button to preview file name for current format setting.
    • Click "Apply" button to Renaming selected files.


  4. How do I rename MP3 music files using the Artist, Title and Album information?
    • Run Batch File Utility
    • Browse to the folder your MP3 files are in
    • Select the MP3's you wish to renaming
    • Add the selected mp3 files in the "file list" to Renaming list
    • Click Rename button in the toolbar to open the Batch File Renaming Windows
    • Click the "Rename MP3" tab
    • In the "FileName" box, select the name format you would like to use from the supplied Format,eg: Artist
    • Click the "Preview" button to preview file name for current format setting.
    • Click "Apply" button to Renaming selected files.
