Action Settings

The Actions window contains common settings for backup and restore actions.

  • Automatically continue in 'File Information' window
This will continue the action once file information has been gathered. If this is unchecked the file information dialog will require you to click on 'Continue'.

  • Display 'Action Summary' window when action has completed
Displays a summary dialog once the action has been completed. In this dialog you can view all files/folders that were added/updated/deleted as well as their size and location.

  • Play sound when action has completed
If you would like a sound to play once the action has been completed.

  • Shutdown computer when action has completed
This will shutdown the computer once the action has been completed. A dialog will be displayed for 30 seconds allowing you to cancel the shutdown.

  • Show error message if error occurs (otherwise ignore)
Display a Retry/Abort/Ignore dialog if an error occurs during the action. If this is unchecked the error will be ignored.

The Backup window contains settings for how backup actions will be performed.

  • Do not overwrite files on backup if they are newer
When this option is checked files on the backup that are newer than the source will not be updated even if they are different.

  • Copy file security data if supported by file system
If file security data (owner, group, file permissions) should be copied from source files and folders. Requires the NTFS file system.

  • Compress content transparently if supported by file system
If files on backup should be compressed using transparent file system on-the-fly compression. This will allow access to files just as if they were uncompressed. Requires the NTFS file system.

  • Delete files/folders on backup not present in source
Check this option to make sure that old files/folders are deleted from the backup. This is useful if you rename/delete files in the source and want the backup to reflect the changes.

  • Put deleted files/folders in recycle bin
If this option is checked all deleted files/folders will be moved to the recycle bin instead of being instantly deleted. This might make the delete process take a little more times.

The Restore window contains settings for how backup actions will be performed.

  • Do not overwrite files on source if they are newer
Check this option if you do not want files in the source that are newer than the backup updated. This will ensure that the source always has the latest files

  • Copy file security data if supported by file system
If file security data (owner, group, file permissions) should be copied from backup files and folders. Requires the NTFS file system.

  • Compress content transparently if supported by file system
If restored files should be compressed using transparent file system on-the-fly compression. This will allow access to files just as if they were uncompressed. Requires the NTFS file system.
