Launch application

This task type allows launching application, opening document, Internet page, and e-mail client.

To launch application: enter the application's executable file name in the field Executable file name of the task properties window. You can also click the Browse button to find the application's executable file on your computer disks or click the button Lookup to select application from the list of applications installed on your computer.

Application will be launched in hidden window if you select Run hidden option.

If you have administrator rights on your computer, you can launch application under another user account. To do that select Run as user option and specify name, domain and password of the user under which account you wish to start the application.

To open document, enter its path and file name in the field Executable file name. Documents, types of which are registered in your system, will open automatically. If document type is not registered in the system, but you know, which application should open it - you can enter the application's executable file name in the Executable file name field and specify the document's path and file name in the Command line arguments field.

Managing scheduled tasks

Managing scheduled tasks is performed in the Advanced Task Scheduler's main window, which can be opened by selecting the command Show Advanced Task Scheduler on the program's context menu, which pops up by the program's icon in system tray or - through the hotkey, which you can select on the Run tab of the preferences screen.

Advanced Task Scheduler's main window displays the list of scheduled tasks, which can be viewed as one of the following: Large Icons, Small Icons, List and Details. When the Details view mode is selected, each item appears in its own line with advanced information spread out by the columns.

Then, you need to restore Advanced Task Scheduler settings. By doing that, you must open registry editor again and import settings exported earlier.

  4. Why Advanced Task Scheduler doesn't display help correctly?
    If you do not have Internet Explorer 5 or higher, you may need hhupd.exe to use the Html Help feature.

  5. How do I correctly reinstall or update Advanced Task Scheduler?
    If you downloaded the installation program of latest version of Advanced Task Scheduler from our site, you need simply start it. It will detect that Advanced Task Scheduler is already installed and will update it, but your preferences, scheduled tasks and registration information will be kept.
