Getting Started with Visual Styler

To start the program, click Start | All Programs | AusLogics Visual Styler and then click Visual Styler.

You're now ready to use the program. You can change desktop and other icons on your computer, change visual effects, change wallpapers and set up new XP themes, boot and logon screens. When you change icons, visual effects, themes, boot screens and other elements, press 'Apply' for the changes to take effect.

Most of the changes will only be applied to the currently logged in user.

Please note the 'Restore Center' icon in the top right corner of the program. We pay a great attention to the comfort and security of our customers - Restore Center will be helpful whenever you want to restore your original Windows settings. You can also restore default settings in almost any section of Visual Styler.

Changing Icons

All icons are split into categories. Select a category on the right of the window and then select the icon you wish to change. Click Replace Icon to change the icon. Alternatively you can click on the Icon Packages button at the bottom of the icon list and have all icons replaced with one of the Visual Styler icon packs all at once. For some of the icons you can even change their names.

Once you change an icon, there will be a tick against this icon. It means you have changed the icon but haven't yet applied the changes. You can restore changes made to one or more icons by resetting all categories or using the Rescue Center.

To change icons of files, folders, the 'Start menu' and 'My Favorites', click Drives and Folders button. Select an item (a file or a folder) and then click Replace Icon. Icon Packages can be used with these icons, too.

Visual Effects

This section of the program allows you to change the look of your desktop. "Icon Appearance" group allows you to change the size and spacing of desktop icons and the option not to display a small arrow for shortcut icons. "Desktop Background" allows you to change the wallpaper offset and display Windows version right on your desktop wallpaper. Font smoothing settings, menu animation and smooth scrolling can be adjusted in the "Visual Effects" section.

Click "Apply" for the settings to take effect. You can undo all the changes later on by clicking Restore Defaults or using the Rescue Center.

Changing Wallpapers

In the Wallpapers section, you will see a list of installed wallpapers with previews. You can choose to see only big wallpapers and also exclude any wallpapers from Windows directory.

Use the Tasks section on the right of the window to add new wallpapers, wallpaper packs, delete or download new wallpapers. Click Set Wallpaper to set the selected picture as your desktop wallpaper.
If you want your computer to show a new picture every time you start it, turn on the Wallpaper Changer.

Changing XP Themes

In this section you can apply XP themes provided by Visual Styler, Microsoft and any other themes downloaded from the Internet. Within each theme, you can also select one or more color styles. For example, the Windows XP theme has blue, green and gray color styles.

Once you have selected a theme, pick the color style and click the Apply button. Most of the themes will only work while Visual Styler is installed on your computer. To restore Windows default theme, click Restore Defaults button or use the Rescue Center.
