Drive 3.01 - User Guide and FAQ

Using the program

To get the full advantage of Drive, we suggest you to disable all the autorun and autoplay features offered by Microsoft Windows. On the other hand, we prefer putting a shortcut of Drive in your startup program group. Then Drive will be executed every time you start your computer.

Opening and browsing drive contents from the system tray
Opening and browsing your drives is very easy. Just left- or right-click the program icon in the system tray and select one of the drives.

If you prefer opening hard drive contents in the My Computer style windows, just select "Open in My Computer" from the "Options" menu. To browse hard drives in the Windows Explorer, you can select the option "Browse in Windows Explorer" from the same menu.

When you click one of your data CDs, its contents will be opened in the My Computer style window. If you would like to browse the contents instead of opening them, just select the option "Browse data CDs when clicking". To enable the autorun data CD feature, choose "Run data CDs when clicking" and your data CDs will be runned automatically when you select them from the drive menu.

If you are using Drive for the first time and click one of your audio CDs, Drive will start playing it. If you don't like that and want clicking to open the contents of your audio CD, select the option "Open audio CDs when clicking". The third option available is "Browse audio CDs when clicking". If you want to play your audio CDs instead of browsing and opening them, just select the option "Play audio CDs when clicking".

Run, play, open, and browse automatically or with one click
When you insert a CD (audio or data) on drive, the system tray icon of Drive will be changed. Then you have five seconds time to play, run, open, or browse the drive by clicking the icon. Now you also can choose what Drive should do when you insert your audio or data CDs on drive. When a data CD has been inserted, Drive can either open, browse, or run it automatically. In case of an audio CD, the program is able to open, browse, or play it automatically. Please note that you don't have to choose these "when clicking" options if you don't want to do it.

For example, if you have selected the option "Autorun data CDs when inserting" and the disc just inserted doesn't include the autorun information required, clicking the icon will open the contents of your disc in the My Computer window. The same will happen if you have chosen the option "Run data CDs when clicking" and you select a data CD which doesn't have the autorun information. By the way, please note that the autorun feature is not supported with the zip disks.

Executing the Microsoft Windows' disk tools
The submenu "Tools" includes direct links to drive tools of Microsoft Windows. In other words, when you choose "ScanDisc", the selected tool of Windows will be executed. In addition to these familiar tools, there are also commands for adding and removing virtual drives.

Creating and deleting virtual drives
For example, you can create drive M for the folder "C:\Windows\Desktop\My Documents". After that, the new drive M will appear in your system and your documents can be accessed through the drive letter M. As you see, Drive really makes it easy to get access to the most frequently used folders of your computer. Best of all, your physical drives remain unchanged and are not divided into additional partitions.

To create a new virtual drive, choose "Add Virtual Drive", select the drive letter to create and enter the folder to substitute. If you want to make a permanent virtual drive, select the option "Make Permanent". After you have the correct path and drive letter selected, click "Add" to create the virtual drive. If you created a permanent drive, it will be created every time you execute Drive.

To remove a virtual drive, go to the "Tools" menu, select "Remove Virtual Drive" and then choose the drive letter to be removed and click the "Remove" button.
