Q: How do I check my DirectX version?
A: Go to “Start”, “Run” and type "dxdiag" to get your DirectX version.

Q: Why can't I seek through Windows Media Video (WMV) files?
A: If you find that you cannot move easily through WMV video files try updating to Windows Media Player 9. Any problems with DRM encoded files: Microsoft has released this patch to DirectX DRM which should resolve seeking speeds or color problems.

Q: Why is there no video displayed when I try to play files with Video Snapshots Genius? And, why can not I seek through videos or capture shots?
A: Please use Windows Media Player to play your video firstly. If Windows Media Player also can not play it, you need to install separate decoders for these formats.

FFDShow is a DirectShow codec for decoding/encoding many video formats, including DivX and XviD movies etc. This program can be used by software to playback most video file types properly. We recommend that you install it

Q: When I open DRM encoded files in Video Snapshots Genius the seeking and colors are not right?
A: Microsoft has released this patch to DirectX DRM to DirectX DRM which should resolve seeking speeds or color problems.

Q: How do I take snapshots of RealMedia (.rm/.ram) or QuickTime (.mov / .qt) files?
A: Video Snapshots Genius does not natively support RealMedia and QuickTime movies. You need to install RealPlay and QuickTime. Then Video Snapshots Genius can load these types of files.

Q: How can I open .mp4 files?
A: Windows Media Player does not support the playback of the .mp4 file format. You can play back .mp4 media files in Windows Media Player when you install DirectShow-compatible MPEG-4 decoder packs.

Q: Why do I capture the same shots in auto mode?
A: If your computer too slow, Video Snapshots Genius may capture the same shots. You can open the Options dialog box and set Capture Speed to a higher value (for example 10).
