Frequently Asked Questions - Easy Video Capture

  1. Why the recorded video is blank?
This may happen because the player that is being recorded is using hardware acceleration. The solution is to disable hardware acceleration in the player before recording it. If you are using Windows Media Player, you can change it from the software's "Tools> Options> Perfromance", and set the item "Hardware Acceleration" to "None".

  2. Why the recorded video has no sound?
Run the command "sndvol32.exe /r" from the command dialog "Start > Run ...". Check the correct device such as "Stereo Mixer", or "Mic" if you want to record sound from a Microphone. And please uncheck the item "Mute" and set the sound volume to a higher value. And if you could not see the Stereo Mixer or some other devices from the dialog, you may click the menu "Options > Properties" from the sound volume's control panel. Then choose the correct mixer from the drop-down list. Set the radio to "Record" and check all the items in the list box. And click the menu "Optins > Audio .." from the Easy Video Capture. Then choose the correct audio options.

If the above still does not solve the problem, you can try turning off hardware acceleration system wide. To disable graphics hardware acceleration globally for all applications on Windows 2000, select Control Panel> Display> Properties> Settings> Advanced> Troubleshooting, on other versions of Windows select Control Panel> System> Performance tab> Graphics> Advanced settings. In both cases slide the Hardware Acceleration slider to None. If the above still does not solve the problem, please download and install Windows Media Player.

  3. Why the audio list is empty when click the menu "Options > Audio..."?
It is because that your sound card does not support recording, or the audio codec on your computer is not installed correctly. On this case, you can not record with audio, and the recorded video will not include sound. Please enter "Options > Record...", uncheck the item "Record Audio", click the button "OK" to save and return.

  4. How long a video can I record?
You may record as long as you like if your computer's hardware supports. The recording area's size and frame rates affects the speed and stability very much.

Generally, it is easy to record for 1 hour or 2 hours, if the recording affects the computer's speed very much, you may change the video options from "Options > Video ..." and "Options > Record ...".

  5. Why can't I record audio with microphone?
Firstly, make sure that you had checked the item "Record Audio" from "Options > Record ...". Secondly, run the command "sndvol32.exe /r" from your computer's "Start -> Run ..." . Then the recording control panel window will appear, select the "Microphone" device and set the volume to a higher value, uncheck the "Mute" options.

  6. Why is the audio out of sync with video?
This may happen for some video codec, you may try to change to another codec from "Options > Video ...". And please close other applications that takes resources during recording.

  7. Why is the video recorded faster or slower than the original screen?
This may happen when you enter the play back rates incorrectly. You may change the play back rates from "Options > Video ...". The play back rates should be 1000/(recording interval). Larger value or smaller value will make the play speed faster or slower.

  8. Why the full version still keeps the red demo string?
If you still get the red string on the recorded AVI video, please enter the options dialog from "Tools > Record ..." and uncheck the item "Add Text On Video". Then restart the software.
