The Macromedia Flash file format (SWF) (pronounced "swiff") delivers vector graphics and animation over the Internet to the Macromedia Flash Player.

  2. What is a FLA file?
The Macromedia Flash editor document file format (.fla) to be used in Macromedia's Flash authoring software. SWF files are exported from FLA files using the Macromedia Flash application.

  3. What version of the Flash Player are the SWF files exported from Text-Osterone compatible with?
Text-Osterone creates SWF files that are compatible with the Flash Player version 5 and up. If you are publishing Projector files, the Flash Player is not needed.

  4. All the letters are doubled when I preview the text (eg. Hello becomes HHeelloo). Why is this?
The demo version of Text-Osterone duplicates all the letters in the output. The full paid version removes this limitation.

  5. I'm getting an error saying "There are no fonts installed. Open the fonts folder from the Control Panels to install fonts" when I try to change the font in Text-Osterone. Why is this?
This is a problem that occurs on certain configuration of Windows 98/ME. In the Preferences of Text-Osterone, uncheck the "Use default font chooser" checkbox. The next time you try to change the font, you should be able to at least type in the name of the font you want to use.

  6. How come Flash will import the .swf files generated by Text-Osterone properly?
Flash will not import .swf files in the entirety that contain Actionscript, audio, video, or movie clips. You must either use the loadMovie actionscript command to load the .swf file, or export as a .fla file from Text-Osterone which can then be directly opened in Flash.

  7. How do I keep the text on the screen for a specified amount of time before it gets removed?
In the Text tab, the Ext. Duration field is the number of seconds to keep the text on the screen before the FX Out effect begins.
