Frequently Asked Questions - Xtreeme SiteXpert Professional Edition
When previewing the sitemap in SiteXpert everything
works fine but the sitemap doesn't work / look right when uploaded
to the web server. What should I do?Some styles generate multiple output files (e.g.
JavaScript .js files) in the output folder (defined in Options / Output)
and all styles generate images in the image subfolder (also defined
in Options / Output). Additionally the search engine generates database
and script files. You will need to upload all these files in order
for the output pages to work correctly on the web server. The safest
way to accomplish this is using SiteXpert's FTP upload capability.
Go to Options / Output and set your FTP options here. SiteXpert will
automatically upload all necessary files. If you decide to save the
output files on local/network disk, make sure you copy all generated
files as well as subfolders to the final location.

How can I prevent Layout Wizard from overriding
my custom item names / structure? There are two modes of running Layout Wizard -- you
can switch between the two by selecting or clearing the option 'erase
old layout before starting Layout Wizard' in the last step of Layout
            Wizard.

If this option is selected, all your previous modifications (modified
names, added folders/items, items moved to other folders) will be
lost and layout wizard will simply re-scan the website from scratch.

If the option is not selected, your manual modifications will be preserved,
meaning that modified item names, placement of items and manually
added items will stay the way you set them. The only problem can appear
if documents were in the meanwhile removed from the website. In such
case, you will manually need to remove them from the layout. Naturally
newly added documents will appear in the layout.

I want to map a website where user interaction
is required to access certain parts of the website. Can SiteXpert
handle this?Yes, SiteXpert can fill out and submit forms using
the GET or POST method. In Layout Wizard / Advanced Options select
the 'Submit HTML forms' option and click the 'More' button to set
detailed options. You can specify which forms you want to be submitted
and which ones should be ignored. When Layout Wizard is started, you
will be prompted to enter form data whenever a form is encountered.

I would like the tree to always highlight the
current URL. Is this possible?Yes, you can set this up in options/tree properties
in section 'synchronization of tree with current URL'. The default
value of none will result in no synchronization being performed. Setting
this to automatic will automatically highlight the current URL. The
'manual' option will add a link with the chosen text which the visitor
can click in order to synchronize the tree.

Synchronization can generally work in two ways: in a frameset configuration
and without frames. In case of frames, the tree will always be synchronized
with the document loaded into the document frame (as defined in options/frames/document
frame/frame name). If not using frames, the synchronization makes
sense only when the tree is included on multiple pages, most likely
when using server-side includes/scripts to add the tree to the pages.

I have used the Navigation Mode of Layout Wizard
to scan my website but the layout created in SiteXpert does not reflect
the layout on my website. Why does this happen? You may need to change a number of options in Layout
            Wizard to correct this:

Make sure you have specified all required include filters. By
default, only files with a few standard extensions such as htm,
html, asp, jsp are indexed. If you are using very uncommon file
extensions, please also go to Advanced Options and add these extension
                to 'HTML extensions'.
Check the 'If a file is referred to more than once' option.
This will dramatically change the generated layout. For example,
you can have all links of every page listed in the layout tree.
Try changing the 'Match layout with the original directory structure'
option. Selecting this option will create a structure similar
to the FTP (file and directory) structure of your website
If your website has links to external websites (other domains)
you need to add the external websites which you want listed to
the 'Allowed external web sites' list. This list is tightly connected
to the 'When a link to a different website is found' option. Make
                sure both ar set correctly
You can limit the number of nested links Layout Wizard will
follow by setting the 'Do not include files below level' option
You can prevent Layout Wizard from entering certain areas of
the website by going to Advanced Options and adding filters to
'Ignored links'. You can also prevent Layout Wizard from scanning
certain URLs by entering appropriate filter in 'Exclude file/URL
filters'. For exmaple, entering http://www.domain.com/dir/* will
not include any URLs starting with 'http://www.domain.com/dir/'.
You can have Layout Wizard submit HTML forms if your website
requires user input to access certain areas. You can set HTML
form submitting options in Advanced Options by specifying which
                forms should be submitted
You can change the way frameset and frame pages are handles
                in Advanced Options
You can use the Suffix Builder (found in Advanced Options /
Add-remove suffix) to exclude pages based on their description
You can add unwanted file groups to the 'exclude file/URL filters'
Check the 'Discover redirected URLs' in Advanced Options of
Layout Wizard. In some cases, redirected pages may not be properly
                handled without setting this option
