Controlling your squads

Selecting a squad

You can select one of your squads by clicking on any member of the squad, or by clicking on the squad in the control panel at the right hand edge of the screen. When a squad is selected all of its members are drawn with white corner markers, or black ones if the man is too badly injured to move. The squad's blue "goto marker" will also be displayed

Moving a squad

To move a squad, simply pick up its light blue goto marker (a brighter marker means better radio reception to the HQ squad) and drag it to the place where you want the squad to move to. You can also pick up and rotate one of the ends of the goto marker to change the way it is facing, or expand or contract the length of the squad's frontage to make the squad members spread out or contract in. If the goto marker is drawn in black it is because the squad is out of radio contact with your HQ squad (squad number one). To rectify this problem, move the HQ squad closer to the out of touch squad, or move the HQ squad on to higher ground or to a place with fewer intervening hills to make radio reception better.

Firing

To order the selected squad to fire, click on the Fire button in the control panel at the right hand edge of the screen, or click on Fire from the Orders menu. Once you have done this, aim lines will appear from the squad members to the mouse pointer. If there is an obstruction to the person's line of sight to your intended target the line will be cut short at the obstruction. If the person's weapon is out of range, the line will be cut short and an arrowhead will be drawn on the end of it indicating the maximum range.

You can press the ESC key to cancel the fire order.

Individual people will also automatically put down fire on any enemy that they see without you having to order it.
