Frequently Asked Questions - Write CDs

  1. What devices does Write CDs support?
Almost all CDR and CDR/W drives manufactured after late 1998. Write CDs has been tested on every available DVD drive formats including DVD-R, DVD-R/W, DVD+R, DVD+R/W, DVD-RAM, and DVD+R DL (Dual Layer).

  2. Does Write CDs support Disc-at-Once (DAO) recording?
No. The control does not support DAO recording and we have no future plans to incorporate this feature because of the complexity it would add to our product. This feature is primarily used for audio CDs, and is not the main focus for these products.

  3. Can Write CDs support Mixed-Mode CDs?
Yes, it is possible to write mixed mode CDs. Mode2XA writing mode added to permit this type of disc.

  4. What are valid audio files when creating CD audio disc?
So far now, the CD/DVD recording components support input files which are 44.1 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo .wav files.

  5. Does write CDs work with MBCS (Multi-Byte Character Set) languages such as Chinese?
Multi-Byte Character Sets (such as Chinese) are not currently supported by Joliet or ISO data images written with our DVD and CD components. We chose not to implement MBCS for Joliet due to the complexities of coding the two options (ISO0660 and Joliet) individually. We do plan to add this functionality in the future.

  6. Breaking Unwanted CDR/W media?
If you don't have a CD media shredder, then using scissors is a good way for cutting unwanted CD or DVD. Need good size scissors with strong fingers, or scissors with big handles.
