WinJukebox 2.12 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

Normalization
  • Normalize audio files before adding them to the music menu - if this checkbox is selected, all audio files being added to the music menu (including those added automatically) will be analyzed and the volume level will be normalized during playback. It is needed in order to play tracks approximately at the same volume level. At the same time, files are not modified, WinJukebox saves calculated parameters in its database and uses them during playback to automatically adjust the volume of each track. If you decide to disable normalization later on, just clear this checkbox in order to play all tracks with their original volume.
Updating the music collection
  • Download new tracks and adds them to the music menu using the bookmark list - if this checkbox is selected; WinJukebox automatically searches the specified local and network folders, as well as FTP servers for new audio files using the bookmark list. If it finds any new tracks and they have the Artist and Title tags, the tracks are added to the music menu. Updates are made according to the schedule.
  • Bookmark list - this button open the bookmark editor. You can add, edit and remove bookmarks that are used to update the music menu. Bookmarks can refer to the local or network folders, as well as FTP servers. Only bookmarks with the Use checkbox selected are used for updates.
  • Limit FTP traffic - if this checkbox is selected, you can specify the maximal amount of traffic that can be downloaded during one session while updating the music menu from FTP servers. Suppose you do not want WinJukebox to download more than 400 MB a month. If you update your music menu each week, you should set the limit of 100 MB. Thus, WinJukebox will not download more than 100 MB a week, which approximately corresponds to 400 MB a month.

General
  • No repetitions during playback - this checkbox allows you to set a limit for repeating tracks during playback. You can use the Tracks in between field to specify the number of tracks that should be played before the same track can be played again. If the Tracks in between value is greater than the number of tracks in the playlist selected to be played automatically, this feature is automatically disabled because otherwise it will finally come down to the situation when it is impossible to select a track meeting this condition.
  • Overlap tracks - if this checkbox is selected, each next track starts playing not after the previous track is over, but a bit earlier. The Level slider defines when the next track should start playing. WinJukebox starts analyzing the volume level 7 seconds before the track is over. If the average level for 1/5 seconds is lower than the one specified on the slider, the next track starts playing. While the previous track is still playing and the next track is already playing, WinJukebox mixes the sound of both tracks in the proportion of 1:1 (without cross-fade).
Autoplayback
  • Autoplayback - if the checkbox is selected, even if the playlist of queued tracks is empty, WinJukebox will play music from the selected playlist (music menu, playlist (the playlist marked as active is used), new lists or top list). The Random checkbox is used to set the random order of tracks in the list.
  • Start playing at WinJukebox startup - if the checkbox is selected, the program automatically starts playing tracks from the selected playlist once it is started
