What type of data can Good Sync synchronize

The primary goal of the application is to provide enhanced synchronization of your personal data, i.e., the files that you directly or indirectly create yourself and are therefore the most valuable and cannot be obtained from anywhere else. For instance, your MS Office documents, pictures, text files, password manager data or any other files your applications work with. Data replication among multiple computers or with a removable drive allows you to use and modify them when you want and where you want: at home, in the office, on a business trip and so on. Furthermore, you get data backup with no additional effort.

Synchronization of some application data files on your computer can also be a good idea. For example, you may want to add Internet Explorer favorites at work and see them at home and vice-versa. To do so, you can synchronize Internet Explorer favorite's directories on both computers via a USB drive. Your IE favorites folder is usually located at [drive]:\Documents and Settings\[current_user_name]\Favorites.

Of course, synchronization of data you did not author is also possible. Synchronize an archive of downloaded software between your desktop PC and your laptop over your local network while at home. You will then be able to install and use that software in flight. Also, you may want to keep your collection of media files in sync among all of your computers and media player devices, such as MP3 players.

Frequently Asked Questions - GoodSync

  1. What happens if the network connection is dropped during synchronization across the network?
You won't lose any files. When Good Sync replaces a file, first it copies it to a temporary file on the destination folder. Only after copying is completed does it replace the target file with the temporary one. So, in the event of a connection failure, only the temporary file will be damaged. Just synchronize again when the connection is restored.

  2. How does the application handle deleted files and folders?
Good Sync recognizes that you have deleted a file or a folder from one location and deletes it from the other.

  3. Why does my spyware guard application claim that Good Sync may contain spyware?
This is because Good Sync checks for software updates from time-to-time. No personal information is sent over the Internet.

  4. Why does the system sometimes assign a different drive letter to my USB devices? How do I set up Good Sync to synchronize with a specific device?
Insert the USB drive. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management. Select Disk Management. Click the right mouse button on the drive. Select "Change the Drive Letter and Paths..." for the drive and then assign the letter you want to the drive. The drive letter you specified.
