SimDisc 3.02.816 - User Guide and FAQ

Screenshots - More Details

Launch image archives

The image archive launcher is intended to supply a convenient way of restoring archived images back to your hard disk from CD or DVD. SimDisc will store an automatically generated menu along with the archived images which will be launched automatically when inserting the disc with the archive - if autoplay is enabled. This menu allows to view the archive comment and to restore images from the archive back to your hard disk.

In addition to viewing the comments and restoring image files, the image launcher presents you a list of all virtual disc image files contained in the archive as well as the list of additional files containing to them and the possibility to install them directly from the archive.

An image from the list is simply selected by enabling the corresponding checkbox. After picking a virtual disc image file, you can either restore it back to your hard disk or mount it directly from the archive disc.

If you select multiple archives, you will only be able to restore the selected images back to your hard disk.

To place an image in one of the virtual drives, simply click on the corresponding entry in the list on the lower right of the window. If Autoplay is enabled, the image will be started immediately.

At the bottom of the window, you can find a link to the SimDisc homepage.

Note: The Image Starter will only be launched automatically when inserting an archive disc if the auto-insert notification option of your Windows is enabled (this is the default behavior in Windows).

Frequently Asked Questions - SimDisc

  1. The following error appears during installation: Error 1324. The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character. What can I do?
The error message points to a damaged user account, mostly under Windows XP with Office 2000 or Office XP.

Solution: Delete the user account and create a new one. After having deleted the user account, check under Documents and Settings if the subdirectory for the user account really has been deleted. If not, please remove it manually.

  2. During the installation the following message appears: "The language of this installation is not supported by your system." What should I do?
Uninstall an older version of the program first - through the Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Software), before you install the new version.

  3. I get the error message 'Error while accessing the network address(Error 1606)'. What does this mean?
Start REGEDIT (Windows 9x/ME) or REGEDT32 (Windows NT/2000/XP). Check the entries "Recent" below the following keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Shell Folders/
    and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders/. These must point to existing directories - usually to C:\My Documents (Windows 9x/ME) or c:\Documents and Settings\(Username)\Recent (Windows NT/2000/XP). After correcting these entries, restart Windows and install SimDisc again.
