Main Window
GIMP Main Window
When you launch the GIMP from desktop or Programs group, you will see the above window which is the main window of GIMP.

Layers, Channels...
Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo Panel
The above panel is displayed when the program is launched. It contains several tabs including layers, channels, paths and undo history. At the bottom of the panel, there are some other tabs, i.e. brushes, patterns and gradients.

Toolbox Panel
The above panel is displayed when the program is launched. It contains many useful tools such as Rectangle Select, Ellipse Select, Free Select, Fuzzy Select, Select by Color, Scissors, and so on. For each of the tools, the configuration is displayed at the bottom of the panel and users could modify the default parameters freely.

Preferences Dialog
Click main menu "Edit"->"Preferences", the above dialog is displayed. Users could config the parameters of enviroment, interface, theme, help system, tool options, toolbox, default image, default grid, image windows, display, color management, input devices, window management and folders.

Configure Grid
Configure Grid
To configure image grid, click main menu "Image"->"Configure Grid", the above dialog will be displayed. In the dialog, users could define the appearance, spacing and offset of image grids. Click the Reset button to set the parameters to default values.
